Whitney Elizabeth Houston was the youngest child of singer Dionne Warswick and gospel music legend Cissy Houston. Whitney Elizabeth Houston grew up in a family that was musical. She began singing in the choir at the church she attended The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark as a young child at the age of fifteen, she was singing back vocals professionally along with their mother in Chaka Khans 1978 hit Im Every Woman. The Whitney 1987 record, with the songs Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as hits, helped build upon the successes she'd had. However, the 1992 movie The Bodyguard sealed her spot as one of the most successful musicians of all-time. Although the film was not highly appreciated and neither did her performance, the soundtrack to her Dolly Parton version I Will Always Love You hit the top of both singles and albums charts across the US for a period of time. The album sold over 44 million copies. In the same year, she got married to Bobby Brown who was a previous New Edition singer. She had their sole daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown together on March 23, 1993. Her daily drug usage was well documented.
