April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is one of the few female beach volleyball athletes to achieve this feat. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to win her third gold medal alongside first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross is determined to earn more than her initial Olympic medal. At 39, this could be Ross' final chance to win the Olympic gold medal. The athlete is optimistic, however the top honours will be at hand. Ross told NBC Boston that he believes If they can play at their absolute most effective, and even play one of their best games, they'll win the gold. That's why I'm taking some luck as well. Ross came into the world in 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. At Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. As a prep-athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. She was evidently the best in the game of indoor volleyball. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside hitter on the court of volleyball during her senior year of high school. She was awarded in the category of Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. She also won her an Orange County Athlete of the Award in the year 2000. Although Ross and Klineman are a couple since 2017, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches way before they teamed up. She actually won many major events playing two other partners, one of which is a volleyball icon. They teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, in addition to serving as the Klineman's assistant and Kessy's coach. Kessy and Ross were strong on the international circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 together. In 2012, the team took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. The fate of the matter was that Ross got Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. The team won bronze at the beach volleyball competition in the Rio Olympics the year 2016. Ross was a student athlete who played for the Trojans at USC before beginning the start of her professional career. She played in high school, and before playing on the beach as a professional. Ross's career with the Trojans was one of the best. As a freshman in 2000 she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was an All-American. She also helped the Trojans advance to the Final Four. In her sophomore season, she was devastated by a personal loss, yet was successful in being named an All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans on a climb and won consecutive national titles. She was a superb volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the college's top female volleyball player. Ross went on to study internationally-related studies at USC. However, Ross mom Margie didn't get to watch Ross rise to the most elite levels of beach volleyball fame. At the time of 2001, while Ross was in her sophomore year on the campus of USC her mother died of breast cancer. She holds her mom very dearly. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her, on and off the beach.
